Hoistbay is a free desktop app for macOS and Windows that takes the repetitive work out of S3 and CloudFront. Set header rules once (Cache-Control, Content-Type, Content-Encoding by file pattern) and they apply on every upload. Download whole folders, clear CloudFront cache in one click, and switch AWS accounts instantly. Keys stay in your OS keychain, no backend, no telemetry. MIT licensed.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Kartik, the maker of Hoistbay. I built it because I was tired of opening the AWS console in a browser for the same S3 chores after every deploy: - No automatic header rules. Every upload meant setting Cache-Control, Content-Type and Content-Encoding by hand. With gzip-compressed builds (static sites, Unity WebGL, fonts) one wrong header breaks the page. - No way to download a whole folder from the console. - Clearing CloudFront cache is a slow, multi-step process, and stale cache is easy to miss. What Hoistbay does: - Per-bucket header rules by file pattern (*.js, *.wasm.gz, *.html...) applied automatically on every upload - Upload and download whole folders, structure kept - One-click CloudFront invalidations with live status - Multiple AWS profiles and regions, switch instantly - One Activity panel for every upload, download and cache clear Your keys stay in the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager. @stuartxt You can solve using this steps.

right-click Hoistbay in Applications → Open → Open. If you only see "Move to Trash", go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

Is there a way to preview which rules will be applied to the header before uploading? Especially when there are 2 filename patterns that overlap.

How do you manage S3 and CloudFront day to day? Console, CLI, or something else?

Curious how other builders handle the everyday S3 stuff: uploading assets, checking what s in a bucket, invalidating CloudFront after a deploy.

For me it was always a mix of the AWS console (slow for small tasks) and the CLI (fast, but I never remember the flags). Most GUI clients I tried felt dated or were closed source, which made me uneasy about handing them AWS credentials.
