Give your MacBook notch a personality. Notch Design adds music visualizers, battery and progress rings, animated styles, a pull-down lamp, and an expandable utility dock—all designed to feel like they grow directly from the notch.
Building things this fast and this accurate has never been possible, before astra I always use to sit for so long hours and tell them to change each aspect, do things in multiple passes, and have to get involved a lot. With astra it is able to do things on its own, so little input is needed, sure it was token hungry so need to switch between models but astra is absolute beast of a model.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Notch Design because the MacBook notch has always felt like unused space—something we tolerate rather than enjoy.
The project started with a simple question: what if the notch could have a personality?
That idea grew into a native macOS experience where everything originates from the notch itself:
🎵 Music visualizers that react directly below it
🔋 Battery, charging, focus, and task-progress rings
🔥 Waves, flames, hair, ink, and other visual styles
💡 A pull-down cord that turns the entire notch into a lamp
⏱️ An expandable dock for focus sessions, tasks, and useful controls
The main design principle was simple: nothing should look like a widget floating near the notch. Every animation, indicator, and interaction should feel physically connected to it.
This is still the beginning. I’d especially love to know:
- Which feature would you keep enabled every day?
- What other indicators or utilities should live in the notch?
- Which visual style gives your Mac the most personality?
Thanks for checking it out—I’d genuinely appreciate your feedback. 🧡
