@shun_build I've never signed up for anything so quickly. This was one of those "DUH!" products I knew I wanted/needed. But I signed up for the $1 trial and can't get past step one (and can't find any support links on the site). Why is it saying my product (qr-codes.com) is a private address? Does this tool not work for SaaS products?
@centralparkerย Really sorry about this โ that's a bug on our side, not your product. SaaS products (qr-codes.com included) are exactly what this is built for.
I'm digging into the cause right now. Could you give me a few more minutes? I'll reply here the moment it's fixed, and I'll make sure your $1 trial isn't wasted.
Thanks for the patience, and again, sorry for the trouble.๐
@shun_buildย @centralparkerย Having this problem myself!
@centralparkerย @tj_ferryย @tjferry I'm really sorry โ you're hitting the same bug as @centralparker, and it's entirely on our side.
I'm on it right now and will reply here the moment it's fixed. If you've already paid for the $1 trial, I'll make sure you don't lose anything.
If you can share your product URL here, I'll check it myself as soon as the fix is live. If you'd rather not post it publicly, my DMs on X are open: @xU0kRSodfZ56576โ send it there and I'll take a look.
Sorry again for the bad first impression, and thank you for flagging it.๐
ย @tj_ferryย I'm really sorry. You paid for the trial and hit the same wall on the very first step. That's on us, completely.
It's fixed now. If you log in and add your product again, it will go through. If you'd rather I handle it, reply with your URL (or DM me) and I'll add it and prepare the last 7 days of posts for you.
Thank you for speaking up. "Having this problem myself" was exactly the signal I needed to know this wasn't a one-off. Sorry again for the bad first impression.
@centralparkerI'm truly sorry. You signed up on day one, paid for the trial, and the very first step failed you. That's a bad experience and it was entirely our fault, not your product.
It's fixed now. The cause was on our side: sites hosted on Framer (and Vercel/Webflow) were wrongly flagged as "private". qr-codes.com was fine all along.
I didn't want you to lose any more time, so I added qr-codes.com to your account myself and prepared the last 7 days of posts. Log in and your feed is ready.
Thank you for the clear, honest feedback. You flagged exactly what was broken, and it helped every founder who signed up after you. I'm sorry again for the rough start.
@shun_buildย Please no worries! Your response and immediate fix more than made up for a minor inconvenience. Glad it's fixed. Going to play around with it now thanks!
@centralparker Thank you, Aric ๐ You tried Ownfeed on launch day and hit the bug for it, and you still came back to say this. That means more than you know.
Your QR-Codes.com feed is live now, and it refreshes every morning. I'll be keeping an eye on it myself, so if anything looks thin or off, just tell me here or DM me on X ๐ https://x.com/xU0kRSodfZ56576
Enjoy playing around with it, and thank you again ๐โโ๏ธ
@shun_buildย NP I'm a builder too, I know how it goes to ship and hit bugs right away. No worries! That's why I love ProdcutHunt too, its kind of a safe space where you won't get immediately judged and canceled for a tiny bug.
Are you open to a few suggestions?
- As a value add you could use AI to suggest responses to the posts and comments shown in the feed.
- Also would be nice to have a translate tool as a few of my matches were not in English.
- Lastly it might be helpful to have an option to rate posts with a simple thumbs up or down depending on how relevant they are to your business or product. So a thumbs up would teach your system that this kind of post is a true lead, while a thumbs down would mean it's irrelevant. Over time it would help curate the feed to only the most useful posts.
Hi Shunsuke, how does Ownfeed curate its findings? for example, let's say it found 5 posts on HN, and 1 of the posts has a lot of discussions. Is that one post from HN presented at the top of the results or indicated in some way that this might be worth looking into first? You might already have this. I've only seen the images of Ownfeed that are posted here. Congrats on the launch!
@sara_ford_googย Hi Sara, thank you so much for taking the time to look at Ownfeed and for such a thoughtful question โ I really appreciate it, especially coming from someone on the Cloud Run team.
To answer directly: not by discussion volume yet. Each post gets a "worth replying to" score from a tuned algorithm (is the author describing a real pain, are they looking for a tool, etc.), and the feed is sorted by that score with a time decay, so fresh high-score posts rise to the top. Comment and upvote counts are shown on each card, but they don't affect the order.
The reasoning is that a thread with 100 comments is often a general debate, while a post with 2 comments can be one person with exactly the problem you solve โ and that's the one you'd want to reply to first.
That said, you've pointed out a real gap. A "busy thread" signal is a cheap addition, and it's now on the list. Thank you again for the kind words and the feedback โ it means a lot.
@shun_buildย I agree with you that just because a post has a lot of comments, it doesn't mean it is the most useful to you. It reminds me of this xkcd cartoon https://xkcd.com/979/
It sounds like you've put a lot of great thought into how the curation / tuned algorithm should work! Good luck with the launch!
@shun_build Hello,
I wanted to give your platform a try but all I receive is "couldn't load posts"
Hey there! your payment page isn't loading. I use Chrome.
@nicki_wilsonย Hey Nicki, thanks for flagging this โ and I'm really sorry.
I'm investigating the cause right now and will reply here as soon as it's fixed. If you can tell me what you see (blank page, error, or endless loading), that would help a lot. My DMs on X are also open: @xU0kRSodfZ56576
Sorry again for the trouble๐
@xU0kRSodfZ56576ย @shun_buildย Hey! Oh gosh no biggie - I know how it is when you are building and releasing - in that same mode myself! I can see the gray boxes where the payment page images would be if it loaded - but that is as far as it loads - then I get a timeout message that says "your payment either went through or the page timed out". Something of that nature - it flashed and went away so that may not be the exact copy but it is close.
@xU0kRSodfZ56576ย @nicki_wilsonย Thank you so much โ that description was exactly what I needed. The "gray boxes, then a timeout" detail pointed me straight to the cause.
I've found it and I'm fixing it now. I'll report back here in the next 30 minutes or so once it's live.
Really appreciate you taking the time to write that out, and the kind words. It genuinely helped๐
@xU0kRSodfZ56576ย @nicki_wilsonย Found it and fixed it โ thank you so much for the detail, that was exactly what I needed.
It wasn't Chrome. The "Start trial" button became clickable again while Stripe's page was still loading, and a second click quietly expired the first checkout session โ which is why you saw the gray boxes and then that "went through or timed out" message. Fixed on our side a few minutes ago: the button now stays locked until Stripe loads, and a second click reuses the same session instead of killing it.
If you're still up for it, https://ownfeed.dev/pricing should work now. And if anything looks off again, I'm right here. Sorry for the bumpy first try ๐
First of all, thank you ๐
To everyone who tried Ownfeed, left a comment, or upvoted on launch day: it meant the world to a one-person team.
And good news: the launch-day bug is fixed โ If you hit it, please give it another try.
Anything else off? Reply here or DM me on X ๐ https://x.com/xU0kRSodfZ56576.
I'll take care of it myself.Thank you again, truly ๐โโ๏ธ
To answer your question: right now it's mostly by hand, replying in Reddit threads and talking to makers here. Do the Pain point vs Looking for a tool tags split differently by platform? Like is HN mostly pain points and Reddit mostly people asking for tools?
