What's great

Agents can plan, analyze, and draft perfectly, but the moment a workflow requires moving actual money, they hit a wall. Most financial APIs still assume a human is sitting at a screen clicking "confirm."

Sequence solves this by acting as the execution layer for agentic workflows. What’s fantastic isn't just that they allow AI to move money—it's how they do it. The architecture is "safe by construction." By using scoped API keys and enforcing strict, server-side spending limits, it entirely removes the risk of an LLM hallucinating and draining an account. It turns theoretical AI agents into production-ready financial operators. It’s a massive unlock for builders.

What needs improvement

The core infrastructure is rock solid, but as the platform matures, I’d love to see a "dry run" or simulation environment. Giving builders a visual sandbox to test complex, multi-step agent routing rules with synthetic funds before pushing them to live US bank rails would add a lot of confidence during the setup phase. Additionally, expanding this architecture beyond US financial institutions will be a huge milestone

vs Alternatives

Before Sequence, the alternative was trying to duct-tape standard banking APIs (like standard Stripe or Plaid endpoints) to Zapier or n8n workflows. The problem is that those traditional APIs lack the specific guardrails needed for autonomous agents. Handing an LLM unrestricted access to a standard banking webhook is a non-starter for any serious business. Sequence is the first solution I’ve evaluated that explicitly builds the necessary "fences" (server-side limits, immutable audit trails) specifically for AI logic

What's great

I read through the negative reviews and none of them make a good-faith argument against Sequence.

Sure, you can have direct deposit send money to different accounts, but that's a lot of logins and a lot to manage.

Sequence is a unified platform where you manage as many bank accounts as you want in n8n-style nodes called 'pods' with their own account and routing numbers and even virtual debit cards, and you can route rules and funds between them with if-this-then-that and pre-set rules. It even has its own MCP connector so you can have Claude do it for you.

If you are a technical person who hates to look at one big number in their bank account and would prefer it to be broken down and managed properly, Sequence is for you.

What needs improvement

They are doing an amazing job at improving on things that are within their control. But because this is the financial space, innovating probably feels like moving through quicksand. With that said, I wish the integration with other financial services (connecting to my credit card accounts for example) was more intuitive and live instead of having to occasionally update account balances. This isn't a hit on Sequence, but rather the fact that Sequence is the only company trying to pull all of it together.

vs Alternatives

Wealthfront

Sequence is the ONLY platform that combines virtual cards, the 'Omni' card, elaborate rule-building, multiple real bank accounts under one login, and a great support team under one roof. Ally buckets, Qube, Wealthfront, none of them touch this level of granular control over your money.

What's great

I run most of my business ops in n8n and Zapier, and Sequence finally closed the last gap: actually executing the transfer at the end of a workflow. Now when an invoice clears, a flow routes the money to the right accounts automatically with no manual step, no logging into three banking portals. Took maybe 20 minutes to set up.
