What's great

I work in clinical research and used SciSpace (PubGenius Inc.), which promotes itself as an AI assistant for improving scientific manuscripts, particularly in grammar and accurate bibliography generation. On February 9, 2026, I submitted a manuscript for review and was required to purchase an annual subscription to access the generated files.

After paying, I found that no meaningful improvements had been made to the text. More seriously, many of the references provided appeared to be fabricated or incorrect, including nonexistent citations, wrong co-authors, inaccurate journal details, and even a reference generated under my own name. The service delivered does not match what is advertised, and the inclusion of unreliable references represents a serious concern for scientific work.

What needs improvement

The company should acknowledge that the tool is not yet ready for universal use and that it makes mistakes. They should further improve the citation search function, strengthen their after-sales support, and take better care of their subscribers. They should also adopt a self-critical approach and carefully analyze what they are not executing properly. Not only the company, but all subscribers would benefit from improvements to the product and from more attentive customer care.

vs Alternatives

I contacted the company to inform them of the errors and to request a refund. Regarding the first issue, there was no response at all; I believe no one reviewed the original documents I submitted or the file generated by the AI tool. As for the refund, it was a tremendous disappointment.

Used SciSpace Research Agent for creating a literature review. Output was impressively detailed and clear and easily better than multiple tools I've juggled before. The best thing was taking the literature review and creating a first draft of a research document - I would juggle between multiple tools to do this before.

Seems like a great tool to utilize for my workflows. I'm an IT Specialist and am always looking for new ways to optimize my workflow. Only thing that frankly was quite annoying was the fact that I inputted one prompr and ran out of credits before the output was completed. Engineers/Developers, please at least allow enough credits for one to run it a few times no matter how large the output would be. And, mine wasn't that large at all.

This was a pretty neat feature! I asked a couple of basic questions regarding key takeaways and the paper's overall conclusion, and it gave easy-to-read answers to my queries. Looking forward to more such tools like these as it was especially helpful in understanding topics in research papers that were quite new to me.

After experienced couple of searches on the web application , used few suggestions and entered some questions on Copilot tool , Scispace enables a simple way to look up for research papers , in order to understand them . Yet suggestions on Copilot might improve in terms of relevancy and variety .

I dig what SciSpace is doing - making research papers more accessible. Published papers shouldn't be hard-to-read, to begin with. But, since many unfortunately are, tools like Copilot might help everyone from a seasoned researcher to a general reader save time and get the most out of a paper.
