I myself have done some freelance translations and content writing, and I can give some simple tips, although I'm also a mere beginner this far.
First of all: just be active and look for new opportunities! You never know when or where you get lucky.
Create a portfolio with which you can showcase your talent and previous works. It can be e.g. on LinkedIn or your own website.
Make sure to price yourself accurately. You don't want to be too expensive but you still want to get enough money.
If you get opportunities, make sure to give your best and show that you are good. With time, you might get more offers and you will be able to raise your prices.
Get endorsements from people with whom you have worked previously.
