Hey @aqsa_sajjad Here's a professional response to the question "What's your approach to competitor analysis?": A comprehensive competitor analysis involves several key steps: Identify key competitors: Conduct thorough market research to pinpoint direct and indirect competitors in our industry. Gather intelligence: Collect data on competitors' products, services, pricing, marketing strategies, and market positioning through various channels including public information, industry reports, and customer feedback. SWOT analysis: Evaluate each competitor's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to understand their market standing and potential moves. Benchmark performance: Compare our company's performance metrics against competitors to identify areas for improvement and competitive advantages. Analyze market strategies: Examine competitors' marketing, sales, and distribution approaches to gain insights into effective tactics within our industry. Monitor innovation: Stay informed about competitors' product development, technological advancements, and strategic partnerships to anticipate market trends. Assess financial health: Review available financial data to gauge competitors' stability, growth potential, and resource allocation. Evaluate customer perception: Analyze customer reviews, satisfaction ratings, and brand sentiment to understand how competitors are perceived in the market. Continuous monitoring: Implement ongoing tracking systems to stay updated on competitors' activities and market changes. Strategic planning: Utilize insights gained from the analysis to inform our own strategic decisions, product development, and market positioning. This systematic approach enables us to maintain a competitive edge, identify market opportunities, and make informed business decisions. Would you like me to elaborate on any specific aspect of this competitor analysis process?

My approach to competitor analysis involves using SWOT analysis to understand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, combined with regular monitoring of their social media and product updates. This ensures a comprehensive understanding of their strategies and market positioning.

@evan_washington SWOT analysis is great but it has one downside, it's really time consuming if you do it for every competitor.

As for me, I look at reviews of competing services. Even if the service has 10 features, most users only use a few of them. But they like the service. I want to dig deeper into the reasons for that.
  • The features are easy to use.
  • The features are the same as others, but cheaper.
  • I don'treally understand the features, but I empathize with the maker's thoughts.
  • Able to achieve my goal.

We at Approveit love exploring the market on research calls with potential customers, and they often point at competitors of ours they used in the past, or looked at while shopping around. Then we look into the website, specifically the web archive of our competition (to see how the product pivoted over time), we try to access the product itself to determine the key features and assess the user experience. Reading customer reviews on review aggregators is a must - information there is gold. Obviously, we research all the materials the competitors themselves provide - webinars, case studies, and alike.

Great question! I usually start by identifying my closest competitors and analyzing their strengths and weaknesses. This helps me understand what they're doing well and where I can differentiate myself. I also like to keep an eye on their marketing strategies and customer reviews to stay informed about their latest developments.
