Carbon Calculator for Email - Calculate the carbon footprint of your email marketing

We're excited to share our latest free tool — the email campaign carbon calculator — to help others find the carbon footprint of their email campaigns. Until we embarked on our journey with EcoSend we overlooked the carbon footprint of our digital activities. In fact, we never even thought about email having a carbon footprint. But research (including from Mike Berners-Lee in his book "How Bad are Bananas?" shows that every email sent *does* have a carbon footprint. Whether it's the creation of the email, the sending of it through servers and data centres, through to the receiving of the email on a device — all of these activities use energy. As we've noted many times before, email is not free — it has a cost. We made this tool to help you understand a ballpark estimate for the carbon footprint of your own email marketing activities, and we hope you find it useful.

A super fun and interesting project to work on. Once you start to see the data behind the carbon emissions of our digital marketing activities (and there is more and more of it coming out), it really opens your eyes to some of the simple changes we can make to our day-to-day activities to become more sustainable businesses and individuals.

Nifty! I didn't know about this but it makes sense that even email sending generates carbon footprint !! Good job!
