Hey everyone! I'm super excited to share my productivity app with all of you, with the hope that it encourages you to get more productive work done every day, as it has for me. πŸ™‚ πŸ“± What is it? Focused Work is an app for iPhone and iPad that helps you break up tasks and add structure to your day, to get more things done. It encourages you to focus and take breaks, to stay fresh and productive. Here's a quick rundown of its best features: - Create focus session timers for your tasks, with focused work, planning, and break stages - Define your focus before each session - Distraction alerts, that remind you to stay focused & take breaks - Daily productivity goals, that help you build momentum and a streak - Productivity reflection, that helps you highlight your good & bad habits - Toggl integration with project/tag support - iCloud Syncing, to switch between iPhone & iPad based on the task πŸ€” Why I made it? It started as an idea to replace a rudimentary Pomodoro chatbot a few mates and I were using. Although it gave us complete flexibility with customising timers based on the task, entering commands all the time became tiresome. I felt there was a better way to scratch this itch, and decided to create an app offering that same level of flexibility, with a first-class iOS/iPadOS experience. ➑️ What's next? After a successful beta testing period with encouraging feedback, it's great to already see Focused Work being used for a variety of daily tasks. I'm looking forward to adding Shortcuts and macOS support soon! This is also the first big project I've launched entirely on my own! Happy to answer any questions you may have. πŸ˜€

Loved the App. Michael Tigas How are you planning to market your app? I mean apart from the App store.
Michael Tigas
@dustin_miller Thank you Dustin! πŸ™‚ Outside of the standard Twitter/Reddit promotion, marketing to students in uni/high school will be an important opportunity. I had a number of students reach out via Twitter during beta testing, and provided plenty context to how the app will appeal to that crowd. Reaching them will be a little difficult I think. I'll need to research Facebook study groups + uni pages, and share the app with them. If I'm able to publicise the app enough to be shared amongst uni group chats, I think that will be a huge win πŸ˜€

@teeeeeegz May be you can also list your app on the GetApp and Capterra.
Michael Tigas
@dustin_miller Will add that to the list of platforms I can shared the app to! Thanks πŸ™‚

I’ve used the beta, and I would highly recommend this app to anyone willing to increase their productivity while working/studying πŸ’―

@sarvad_shetty Thanks for participating in the public beta and the kind words, Sarvad! I'm glad you're enjoying the app πŸ™‚

This is a very well-made app! In particular, I really find value in the focus session feature, which lets you plan multiple chunks work at once, which is something I haven't personally seen before from apps in this category. It's really useful for getting into a flow state!
Michael Tigas
@neil_jhaveri Cheers for the kind words Neil! I agree that picking the correct time structure based on the type of task is so important. Some tasks need more time to reach that flow state. 😊

Fantastic tool for helping you focus, really well built and highly customisable.

@timjeffries Thank you for the support Tim! πŸ™‚

I've been finding it harder and harder to focus on work during quarantine and this app has been a huge help for reclaiming my "heads down" time. Great work!
Michael Tigas
@sawyerblatz Thank you Sawyer! The timing of creating the app was totally by coincidence with the pandemic. It's great to hear it's able to serve that benefit too, when working solo. πŸ™‚

So simple to use! My job requires me to focus on multiple fields. (Marketing, customer service and sales) and I find myself really losing focus on my tasks. Especially because I juggle so much and therefore fall behind. This app has helped me be more productive and time block different tasks. The reminders also help me stay on track, as I’m a hardcore procrastinator who thinks she can do a million things at once. (Spoiler, I cant) Thanks for the simple solution!
Michael Tigas
@carmen_compagnino Thank you for sharing, Carmen! I totally getcha when there's multiple things to juggle at once. I think dividing your tasks is the way to go, and I'm happy you've found a good fit for your workflow! Enjoy the app πŸ’ͺ
Tesla
I’ve been beta testing this app for a few weeks now and it has really helped boost my productivity. The timer for each stage allows me to keep track of the time I need to spend on a particular task and also ensure I don’t do unnecessary stuff. Great work Michael! ❀️
Michael Tigas
@tesla1900 Thank you Tesla, for giving the app a shot! It's great to hear you're able to stay focused more often, within a specific time box. Keep it up πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Good idea for those of us who have hit a lull working at home, and need to get into a routine again.
Michael Tigas
@vigginator Thank you! It acts as a nice mini accountability buddy πŸ˜€

It's a great app however there's one problem I have with most of the app's for tracking focused time. When I pause a break or a work period, because of some disruption then it's easy to forget to turn it back on. Is there a way to fast forward or skip such period? In particular I was using the pomodoro template.
Michael Tigas
@pawel_gawel Thanks Pawel, appreciate the support! There isn't a way to skip stages, but I've considered adding reminders when you've paused a session and leave the app. It might cater to your situation quite well. πŸ™‚
