I’m so glad our biggest project is finally out! We took a whole lot of amazing apps from the best developers on the market and put them in a single folder. With no ads and in-app purchases, it’s the simplest UX you can get. What we have now is a totally new way of finding and using apps. I believe it’s going to change the Mac world. We’ll make sure it does. Join us, test the beta version and tell me what you think! :)

@kosovan Looks very promising. Signed up for Beta and activated. Just FYI, it won't accept my American Express CC.
Setapp is an alternative sort of app store for Mac, based on a monthly subscription to access a long list of apps. Setapp was built by the guys at MacPaw, and I use their CleanMyMac app. The first 500 hunters to follow the link will get access to the closed Setapp beta instantly

@stoweboyd I'd love to try this, but when I try the invitation, I'm getting this message "Seems like this invite was already used."

I installed Setapp a few days ago just because of the interest how does the idea with monthly subscription and access to MAS apps works and I'm pretty amazed, to be honest. I discovered a few great apps for me that I didn't know about and got some great that I wanted earlier like Ulysses.
I was pretty surprised getting notifications that a new app was added. So fast! I definitely will use Setapp and recommend it to my friends.
I've been using MacPaw's apps forever and it all started with CleanMyMac what is still one of my favourite Mac apps ever. I guess, Setapp will join the gang of the best apps.
There are some seriously good applications included in Setapp! Especially with Ulysses, TaskPaper, Gemini, Focusesed, etc.
It's a good way to get apps that otherwise you may of thought are too expensive for a one time purchase, but if you'd use a few of the included apps, this is a hell of a deal.
I like the look of this, especially as the library grows. Obviously as it grows it might become difficult to offer the same price to customers and still provide a high enough revenue to developers but it could be cool in the future if you have packages, eg. Developer package, Designer, Writer etc or get all package. Just a thought. Good work though, I look forward to seeing this grow :-)

I've been using Setapp for about a week now. It's really slick. It is simple to set up and install and use apps. I am very impressed with the library of apps offered so far. My biggest fear would be if an app I am using gets pulled from Setapp. I highly recommend checking out Setapp.
I'm glad that my app is in the mix. Hope the service gains solid traction.
I've created a collection of hunted products available in Setapp:

@kosovan Thanks! I got the beta and am doing some initial testing. No conflicts so far, just a pause when launching apps from Spotlight because I need to pick the one I want to launch. Maybe an option to disable specific apps you don't want to be available would be a useful preferences feature.
@kosovan@chuck_grimmett +1. It would be nice to be able to hide apps so they don't show up in searches (or if you already have the app installed). Do you plan to offer an easy way to individually purchase apps at full price?
Love the idea and the initiative, but without more powerhouse apps, this feels like a pretty pricey foray into building an independent marketplace for apps. There have been similar initiatives like this in the past. I'm curious how or if Apple will continue to change the OS X security model to make it harder to operate third party app stores.
@chrismessina This year Apple have opened a lot of great stuff for the apps outside of the MacAppStore, like iCloud synchronisation, support for push notifications, etc. This means that they will unlikely close it again in the nearest future.
