Review of Newton Mail

I used to use it before renaming it, when it was free without the extra features which I don't care for. Then they added a horrible orange banner telling you to upgrade to the paid functions which most didn't care about. Finally they closed down all free apps and only allowed you to buy it in a subscription plan. After that I forgot about them until I saw them here today.

Review of Newton Mail

- Didn't like how they handled an issue I raised, very rude. - Didn't like how they closed down at such short notice - Rather annoyed after spending ages looking for a new email client that they came back so soon.

There is no competitor that matches the overall UI/UX and features. 2nd best would be polymail - but with a huge distance.

I used it when it called CloudMagic until they decided to change their strategy. They forced users aggressively to switch to Newton's paid plan.

Review of Newton Mail
I asked them some simpel security questions and some questions about GDPR (as I'm a European business owner). No answer what so ever. My questions weren't even that hard to answer... :s (I can ask way harder questions in relation to GDPR, I'm a GDPR consultant & DPO). I do love Newton, but for 50/year they should answer their mails! It's just common courtesy. Do you have a data processing agreement available? There is for example little information in reference to the read receipt. Can you explain in more detail with type of information you save on your end? Also can I object against some of the data processing you are doing. This part from your privacy policy sits not right (so intrusive and anti-GDPR): Information We Collect From Other Sources. We may also obtain information from other sources and combine that with information we collect through our Services. For example, we collect information about you from those who correspond with you (they did NOT agree) via email, or from third-party service (WHO?) providers who share certain profile information about you, or we may collect information about you when you post content to our pages or feeds on third-party social media sites. Also... security measures... There are closed to none. HTTPS is pretty basic as is a firewall. Would be kind of crazy if you only have the basics... What are the real measures you are taking? Or how are you helping/supporting your customers to be me more secure? For example (this bothers me the most, and is why I started typing this mail): I don't find any way to see the code of the mails in Newton. You cannot inspect the source code of any mail it seems. Is there no other way of checking the actual sender of the mail? We all have a lot of frustrations with spam an phishing mails. Those mails can be quite dangerous as well. So there should really be a way to check the source of a mail, to see the code, to see the DKIM signature... Perhaps you do some sort of check on your end to improve the security? To check the sender of a email? What happens for example when I mark something as spam in Newton? Also any plans on providing translations? To other languages I mean?
