What's your relationship with WhatsApp?

When I first started using WhatsApp some seven years ago, I noticed that most Americans do not use it. I thought to myself, "Strange," after all, the USA is the birthplace of this now ubiquitous app. Up until relatively recently, those Americans that did use it typically only used it when they or their family/friends were travelling overseas for the free calls/video calls. They did not see it as a useful business tool. Do you?

I've also been using it for quite a while. I'm not sure about the US, but in Belarus, where I lived before, and in Germany, where I live now, it's very popular. As far as I know, it's currently the most popular messaging app in Germany.

I live in Poland (Europe), and here, we have a mix of WhatsApp and Messenger. But I know that in other European countries, WhatsApp is king. Maybe in US the iPhone is too popular, so people focus on iMessage only. As to what I think about WhatsApp, it is simple and lets you add people via phone number, so no account is needed. Communicator as others for me.

@wiktor_wysocki The recent surge of WhatsApp's popularity in the United States can be attributed to a combination of strategic, social, and technological factors including Cross-Platform Compatibility: Unlike iMessage, which is exclusive to Apple devices, WhatsApp's ability to function seamlessly across both iOS and Android platforms has been a significant draw. This feature eliminates the "blue vs. green bubble" divide seen with iMessage, offering a more inclusive communication environment. This has been particularly appealing in a market where device diversity is high.
