A collaborative mixed methods User Research platform. Taking an unconventional approach with a browser extension and web app you can capture and share data analysis, user research, and learnings directly in context, with your team from anywhere you work.
👋 Hey Product Hunt, Andrew here, co-founder of Avrio
We’re excited to be launching Avrio today with the Product Hunt community and we're really looking forward to hearing your blunt direct feedback on how we can build a better product to enable product and marketing teams to effectively collaborate on user research and data analysis to maximize their collective knowledge.
As the previous Head of Business Intelligence at Hotjar, I experienced the pain firsthand during the company’s rapid growth and felt there was a better way. Luckily my co-founder Natalie felt the same and here we are today :)
⛔️ So what’s the problem?
As companies start to scale, customer research and data analysis is:
- conducted in silos,
- impossible to tell what’s valid,
- and scattered all over the place without a single source of truth.
This is a problem because:
- research is repeated,
- time and money is wasted,
- and good insights are never put to work.
🩹 How is it solved today?
Teams currently resort to centralizing their research in all-in-one tools like Confluence, Notion, Drive, and the like.
The problem with these tools is they:
- are not built specifically for research,
- require people to break out of their current workflow to save information,
- provide limited discoverability options,
- and they’re impossible to keep fresh and up to date.
Ultimately they just create a new silo and good research ends up dying in the original slide deck, spreadsheet, or analytics product anyway.
✅ How is Avrio different?
We've taken an unconventional approach at Avrio that allows you to share research directly in context with your team and provides new channels for promotion and discovery of the work your team does with our browser extension and web app.
Avrio is an extension first experience built directly into your workflow where you can capture insights, provide context, and promote the findings of your collective research.
- Snap a screenshot, tag, organize, and share the knowledge with your entire company from any research/data tool you use in a couple of clicks.
- Pin insights to specific web pages and surface them where they matter for your team to discover.
- Annotate any graph on the web for your team to gain context and understand the impact of historical changes you’ve made.
We’re building a user insights engine to allow your team to combine User Insight with Data Insight to combine the What with the Why and give you the full picture.
This is only the very beginning and we see a world where the information your team needs to do their best work, finds them before they know they need it.
We’re counting on all the builders in the Product Hunt community to help us shape Avrio into a superpower for telling stories with your data and driving faster, more impactful data-informed decisions for your company.
A big thanks to Nir for hunting us and the Avrio team and community that has got us this far.
We can’t wait to hear what you think!
I've worked with so many teams struggling to keep track of all their product research. All those docs, charts, and metrics, spread across 20 different platforms ... Bleh!
You can't use insights you can't find.
The Avrio team has built a way to consolidate everything in one neat, tidy, and sharable place, without all the mess.
Congrats @andrewmichaelsa and team!
I've experienced this exact problem first-hand when working at Hotjar... Every team/squad has its own way to conduct and store customer research (Confluence, GDrive, Slack...). It became impossible to track everything and I can't even begin to imagine how many hours were lost conducting the same type of research over and over again.
I'm so glad to see @andrewmichaelsa tackling this problem. We were colleagues at Hotjar and he's a powerhouse.
Another smaller market perhaps is going to be in the academic space - a lot of research goes into papers and I'm sure there could be some model of payment for buying another researchers base research. Might feel a little ugly but time is valued!
@maxwellcdavis we've seen quite a lot of interest on the academic side already. We're here to help teams share and discover their work and we see a great application on the academic side too.
I’ve been using Avrio since its early beta days and the team has added some amazing features since then! Keep up the great work guys and girls!! 🙌 I love how the Avrio pin just pops up now at just the right time and place, giving me some great insights!
@themadbhandari thanks a lot, we have been practising what we preach and have gone deep with our own research and discovery. We have made quite a few mistakes along the way but we've got an exciting roadmap coming up from all the great feedback so far to really help tie everything together.
@rachel_levitz thanks! If you give it a try we'd love to hear your feedback.

This is much needed. Leading Marketing teams at SaaS companies like Typeform and Hotjar, a big part of my role was to understand, debate, and prioritise actions based on research and data from across the whole funnel. Good SaaS companies are never run by just sales, just marketing, just product etc... there needs to be excellent collaboration between these functions. The one consistent thing that would slow us down is having multiple sources of truth for research, data and insights. It would usually live and die in a slide deck somewhere.
Very excited to see more of Avrio.
