Hi Product Hunt! So excited to share Eraser – a clean, minimal, all-in-one ideation tool for remote teams. Eraser pairs a canvas for visual ideas with with a markdown-powered note editor that turns your work into a doc. Since soft launching in March 2021, 1M+ users have used Eraser to conduct brainstorming, technical ideation, whiteboard interviews, and daily stand-ups and we're excited to share it with the PH community today! Eraser is different because: āœ”ļø No log-in required – Jump right in to https://app.tryeraser.com ā¬œļø Minimal UI – No clutter so you can focus on expressing your idea šŸ“„ All-in-one ideation – Draw your idea AND create a doc āŒØļø Keyboard first – Keyboard shortcuts for almost everything šŸ“¤ Easy sharing and exporting – Simply share the URL or export as PNG, SVG, or PDF šŸ–„ For technical teams – Create code blocks and use markdown šŸ’” Rough visual style – Your idea is rough, so should be your canvas! šŸ—” Excalidraw compatible – Our canvas builds on Excalidraw, the popular drawing tool With Eraser you can: šŸŽØ Draw architecture diagrams and UI wireframes šŸ¤ Do real-time collaborative brainstorming šŸ“„ Create product specs and documentation šŸ–± Conduct whiteboard interviews with remote candidates āœļø Use tablet and stylus to handwrite notes and math equations Curious what you all think!

Abe Clark
+1 from me! Easy to use, easy to share. Markdown rocks. Great for wireframing or architecture design.
Shin Kim
@abeaclark Woohoo thank you Abe!

@shin_kim1 what are some benefits over Figma or Miro ?
Shin Kim
@anugrahatreya It's the 1) simplicity which allows you to focus on the idea that you're trying to express instead of all the flashy widgets on the interface and 2) our focus on technical users (i.e. diagramming, documentation use cases), which allows us to de-emphasize elements like sticky notes.

I have the same question. The UI looks good and easy to use though.

I love this webapp - so easy and lightweight to use. As I am not a good verbal communicator, I always structure my thoughts with Eraser visually and via notes at the same time
Shin Kim
@viet_le Thanks Viet!
Ryan Hoover
Love Eraser's no login UX. Miro's great too, but often overkill and a little heavy for simple brainstorming and whiteboarding sessions.
Shin Kim
@rrhoover Thanks Ryan!!

I thought this was going to be a seamless collaborative UI interface for creating something like MermaidJS (diagrams as code). I was super excited about that idea!
Shin Kim
@bryce_york we're working on it! what do you currently use to generate your mermaid diagrams? Something like https://mermaid.live/edit ?
Bryce York
@shin_kim1 that's awesome! definitely let me know when you launch that. i discovered Mermaid 3+ years ago, and haven't used it because of the usability but love the data aspect (git style management of diagrams). currently, my diagrams are almost all made in Whimsical then exported as an image into our knowledge base (Coda at the moment, but could easily be Confluence soon).
Shin Kim
@bryce_york definitely. diagrams-as-code allows for great version control and easier modification of complex diagrams (one line code change vs. many clicks and drags). Your workflow seems like a common one! I'll keep you posted when we roll out this feature.

Eraser is awesome and I love using it to build low fidelity mockups, brainstorm and visualize my ideas, and collaborate with my co-founder! We recently integrated Eraser within Scena 360 to allow users to experience Eraser in the metaverse! You can now walk up to whiteboards and collaborate with others near the whiteboard. Thank you for building such an amazing product @shin_kim1

@danilo_scena Thanks a bunch Danilo!! Everyone, go check out https://scena360.com/!
