Habits by Reclaim.ai - Auto-block time on your calendar for all your routines

byβ€’
Calendars make it way too hard to find and defend time for your routines. Let Reclaim do it for you. Tell us what you need time for and (roughly) when you need it, and we take care of the rest.

Howdy folks 🀠 Habits is live (big thanks to @jmitch for hunting us)! You can think of Habits as an auto-scheduler for your routines. It creates flexible, smart time blocks on your calendar for things you do frequently and adjusts them as your schedule changes. We've seen our earliest users create Habits for things like: πŸ’ͺ Exercising πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Meditating in the mornings πŸ’» Blocking time out to code ✏️ Writing a weekly status report every Friday πŸ’¬ Responding to support tickets πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ Taking a family walk ✊ Making time to support the BLM movement Here's a bit more about what we're launching today: πŸ—“ Smart, flexible time blocking for your routines: just say what and when. That's it. ⏩ Reschedule and skip your habits without ever touching your calendar πŸ’¬ Get notified via Slack when your habits are about to begin -- and take action on them πŸ›‘ Auto-defend time for your habits when your day gets too full 🎨 Customize your habits with event colors, descriptions, attendees, and more πŸ“Š Get stats on where your time is going each week across work and life We're really excited to share Habits with you. We've been using it to keep ourselves connected to our routines during a challenging time, and we hope it'll do the same for you.

@jmitch @henry_shapiro Congrats! Looking forward to trying Habits
Henry Shapiro
@jmitch @etanlightstone Thanks Etan! We can't wait to hear what you think. Lots of work left to do, but we're excited with this as a first step.
Ian White
@etanlightstone would love to get your feedback when you do. A core UI/UX principal on the team is, "no boxes in boxes, Etan would not approve."

I used to spend hours each week moving blocks of time around on my cal in the hopes of saving my sanity and gaining a bit of focus. Reclaim has automated this elegantly. It's honestly fun to see blocks for 'lunch' or 'deep work' adjust on the fly as you accept new meetings or move things around. It's quickly become an essential tool for getting things done.
Henry Shapiro
@ppedrazzi thanks for all the feedback you've provided. It's been hugely helpful in getting Habits refined for the world. Looking forward to building more for you soon!
Patrick Lightbody
@ppedrazzi thanks for support. I agree, there is a certain joy that comes from see your day get replanned and defended in real-time!
Matt Apperson
@ppedrazzi So happy to hear! Thanks for the support!

I use this at love how it finds and books a lunch & "catch up" time for me. Without it people would trample all over my calendar leaving me on zoom for 9hrs/day. Cool product that helps prevent my day from being a mess.
Patrick Lightbody
@phatduckk Thank you! Try making some additional habits, like getting out of the house for a walk or a family movie 😁
Henry Shapiro
@phatduckk There needs to be a word for an "all-Zoom" day. Thanks for the support!
Ian White
@phatduckk we tried to make Habits help those dealing with this forced working remote world we're living in. Glad it's working for you!

Instant signup. I've been needing something like this for a long while now.

@hatertate Ha! Awesome, thank you. Let us know if there are any templates that you think we missed!
Henry Shapiro
@hatertate thank you!
Matt Apperson
@hatertate "Instant signup." Now that's a phrase that is music to our ears! Let us know if you have any questions or feedback!
Angie
I'm excited to try this! This will definitely help me stick to and create new habits.
Henry Shapiro
@angie_liti Thanks Angie! We're excited to hear what you create.
Patrick Lightbody
@angie_liti Thanks Angie. Please let us know how it goes.

I've been using the tool for a while in order to manage a calendar that people on my team have called "hell". Reclaim is a tool that I've been very gun-ho on since I discovered it for personal <> work integrations -- since that time, it's become more and more effective for helping me defend time that I need to do accomplish my goals. "Habits" is one of those improvements that lets me ensure availability to catch up on email, eat lunch (what a concept!!), and just make sure that I'm not underwater on a regular basis. The slack integration's capabilities just provide additional insight and functionality above the core capabilities.
Henry Shapiro
@philippe_mesritz really appreciate it. We're trying to make that calendar less hellish, one event at a time...
Matt Apperson
@philippe_mesritz So happy to hear! Looking forward to sharing future enhancements to make your life even easier!

I stumbled across this feature the other day and converted some habits I already had onto my calendar into Reclaim format. This is really useful because you can decide if it's OK to schedule over these or not. Time chunking is one of the most effective techniques to use to improve your productivity. Thank you ReclaimAI
Patrick Lightbody
@kahrens_atl What's really cool about these habits we lay down is they make external scheduling less risky. For example, if you share a Calendly link with several different people you can be confident they can't all collectively eat up your day and prevent other important work from happening.
Henry Shapiro
@kahrens_atl Another thing you may want to play with are the Time Defense settings we've opened up in these new Habits (under Advanced Settings on the edit screen for any Habit) -- basically lets you decide how aggressively you want Reclaim to flip those events to busy and lock them down. For Habits you're less intent on trying to complete every day, you can reduce the defense setting (and vice-versa). Try it out!
Ken Ahrens
@henry_shapiro for sure I have to set lunch as "Most Defensive" :)
Henry Shapiro
@kahrens_atl as you should πŸ˜›

Habits have been enormously helpful for my calendar. I use it to block out time for email, status updates, lunches, and exercise. It's been enormously helpful in helping me make my schedule both flexible and focused.
Henry Shapiro
@jadeforrest your feedback has been essential over the past year. We couldn't have gotten here without you. Thanks for your support!
Patrick Lightbody
@jadeforrest fun fact: in researching what eventually became this Habits feature, we got inspiration from a trick Jade did where he put publicly visible time blocks down called β€œpebbles” that he used to work on email and other misc work. That is the β€œCatch Up” habit in Reclaim 😁
Mike Orren
I've tried every calendar, GTD scheme and schedule AI out there and Habits / Reclaim AI is the first one that's actually lived up 100% to its promise. I can finally seamlessly merge my personal and biz calendar and defend time for habits that are important β€” without a lot of fiddling with individual time blocks. The Slack integration is icing on the cake β€” I replaced my Google integration with this. Habits has allowed me to offload several task-based habit apps that don't work for me because they don't block the time; and certainly don't flex to find new time when something gets scheduled on top. Also, just a super-fan of this company and their approach. When I signed up for the beta, they did an all-company call with me, a single user, to better understand my needs and how to integrate features that serve them.
Henry Shapiro
@mikeorren wow! thank you ☺️
Matt Apperson
@mikeorren That's really great feedback! Looking forward to making you experience even better over time 😊
