looks interesting but would be great to get a bit more information like an example of a previous weekly newsletter
Jack Smith
@amedeodamore @devindcnn see below, Sam has shared a previous newsletter as an example

How do you stack against Glimpse?
Ryan Hoover
@danirogerc Glimpse is great. Subscribing to this too.
Daniel Roger Casanova
@rrhoover I just wish there was a one-time price for this at the start (for early adopters lifetime) instead of an annual based subscription. It's a bit hard to justify for an e-mail per week
Jake Gibson
@rrhoover @danirogerc or a monthly subscription would be good too
Jack Smith
@danirogerc just to clarify, it's not just one email - the email contains links to in-depth case studies etc

Trends produces the best market research that I've ever come across. I've found it it to be invaluably insightful. If I were starting a new startup, it's highly likely that I'd be getting my ideas for it from Trends.
Daniel Roger Casanova
@_jacksmith How old is this? when did it launch? have you tried glimpse? how does it compare?
Jack Smith
@danirogerc it’s launching today. i haven’t read Glimpse reports, they seem more data centric with graphs and stuff. eg Glimpse has a chart showing that Hims is taking off. Trends had a case study interviewing the Hims founder and employees highlighting how they got successful, which agencies and people they hired, what tactics they used etc.
Jack Smith
@danirogerc yeah - very deep research
Sam Parr
Hey everyone. I made this! Am here if there are questions.
Jack Smith
@thesamparr when people subscribe, do they get access to the facebook group and past issues?
Sam Parr
@_jacksmith @kensavage past issues AND FB group!
Daniel Roger Casanova
Do you have a demo so that I can decide If I should purchase the one-time price or not?
Chad Fullerton
Trends pumps out some of the best, most well-researched content you can find. Great insights, as well as interviews with founders. @thesamparr and the team really go the extra mile to gather the best information. The private community is also really active and full of smart trend hunters. Pros: Well-written and researched, in-depth case studies, actionable insights, weekly e-mail, awesome FB community. Cons: None Comparing Trends to Glimpse (which I am also subscribed to), Trends releases in-depth case study reports with much deeper analysis and research into WHY something is trending. They also tend to gear their research towards business-related discussion and analysis that you can apply to your own business. This is particularly true when they interview founders of companies to get deeper backstory to their success. Glimpse is similar but not the same thing. Glimpse mails out monthly, the topics I've found are wider-ranging - from products to cultural phenomenons - and the analysis is much shorter so you can consume it quickly. It is also highly data-driven, with graphs showing spikes of buzz around a topic.
Sam Parr
@chad_fullerton Thank you!
Heinz Grünwald
Just subscribed. I would have liked some kind of preview - but I am too curious! Don't disappoint me ;)
Sam Parr
@heinz_grunwald Thank you!
Jack Smith
@heinz_grunwald now that you're subscribed, can you see the past reports? I highly recommend checking out the Hims case study

This is a legit business tool not just more information for your stream. To dig into it, you'll want up to 30m of some quiet time and you'll be rewarded with lots of interesting data points and research.

I signed up for $1 free trial and ended up forgetting that my account existed. Unfortunately, I didn't get any notifications and was charged $300. I noticed the charge on my bank card two weeks later and asked for a refund. Stating that I had never even logged into the platform and would like a refund. I understand that they they have a refund policy, but at the very east be flexible in a situation like this where I didn't even use the product. And for that, I wouldn't recommend the platform.
Aila Villanueva
@matthew_rouzaud I seem to find it rare , I mean well setup recurring subscription notifications and the system itself, informing about upcoming payments on trial screens and so on. Kind of typical "lets see how much we can make form peoples short term memory" :)
Josh Moore
Be careful with that 14 day period. They charge you $299 and offer absolutely no refunds once that payment has been taken. Hardly fair to small businesses trying to get by on very lean margins. Just another bunch of contrepreneurs.
Badass Agile
Expensive trap/scam. Gave CC info, couldn't log in, couldn't cancel, got charged 400 bucks for a product I don't want. They couldn't have cared less. Dismissive customer support. Bottom line - do you think people that behave like this can teach you anything about business?
Joseph Goldes
If you are not a startup founder or VC investor looking to invest/start a business in "whatever has a steep upward line" then this product is not for you. The news-letters and website are a rag of "nice to knows" that you could find yourself on google trends. If you are a generalist trend hunter, then batter-up, you'll love this. but if you are at all specialized, say, in the food and beverage industry or in any industry, then you'll get a lot of facts that your brain doesn't need for a price tag that is not nearly worth it. If you are joining for the FB group, sure, go ahead, pay for friends.

could someone do me a favour and share this piece they did on houseplants? Keen to see how valuable their articles are before i subscribe: https://trends.co/articles/onlin...

why not do a one week demo or sample newsletter? you could even put this on your site and offer a sample of content.
Jack Smith
@passingnotes Here's a sample: https://mailchi.mp/c1c62b7aeca9/... unfortunately the link to the Hims case study (which was AMAZING - imho their best content yet) isn't working if not logged in yet, but chatting with them about if possible to put it live to share for free
Raad Ahmed ⚔
is there an example email?
Jack Smith
@r44d I think that they're rolling out examples. Here's one previous email: https://mailchi.mp/c1c62b7aeca9/... unfortunately the link to the Hims case study (which was AMAZING - imho their best content yet) isn't working if not logged in yet, but chatting with them about if possible to put it live to share for free

How does this have so many up votes? It's a 300 dollar newsletter with no trial
Jack Smith
@nathanszei it has so many upvotes because 1) it's awesome, 2) it feels a need that people on product hunt clearly have
Ben Lang
Congrats on the launch. Let's see how this compares to my favorite newsletter Glimpse. 👀
Jack Smith
@benln having checked out Glimpse also, the level of depth in The Hustle's analysis is much more detailed. Though I haven't checked out Glimpse's $400+ per month plan, which claims to have more analysis. see Sam (CEO)'s other comments for an example of Trends' previous content
Khrystsina Trusava
That's a useful tool. But how do you make sure you have really all startups covered?
