Hey Product Hunt community,

I’m Carlos and I’m the Head of Product at Enigma Labs. We’re a group of open-minded technologists who are neutral on the origins of the UFO/UAP phenomenon. We are motivated by curiosity and optimism about the unknown. Over the past 2 years we’ve worked closely with UFO/UAP enthusiasts and skywatching communities to build Enigma, a first-of-its-kind alert network, data aggregation tool, and storytelling platform for UFO/UAP sightings.

With the Enigma mobile app, you can:

  • Discover Sightings: Watch videos and listen to the audio recordings of sightings from across the globe

  • Share your Story: Submit your personal UFO/UAP sightings and experiences

  • Receive Real-time Alerts: Be the first to know about sightings near you with nearby sighting alerts

  • Join the Conversation: Discuss the phenomena with a network of 100K+ like-minded enthusiasts

  • Identify Known Objects: Instantly identify satellites, planes, stars, planets and more with our AR Lens

We’re excited to crowdsolve this age-old mystery together and invite you to join our community by downloading our app.

Otherwise, thanks very much for your interest! We’re looking forward to your feedback and questions about Enigma!

Desmond

A dream come true for UFO enthusiasts! 🛸 How does Enigma verify sightings to filter out hoaxes or misidentifications?

Carlos Olivieri

@desmond_ren1 Great question, Desmond! In short, we use a mix of machine learning, human moderation, and crowdsourced intelligence when processing each submission.

First, sightings are automatically scored by a multivariate model that computes many factors, largely around object identification, confidence in the event occurring as described, and how anomalous the behavior of the UAP was.

Next, a moderator reviews the sighting to determine whether it satisfies our criteria. We believe that researchers benefit from more data than less, so moderators are responsible for filtering out hoaxes and misidentifications rather than determining the object’s origin.

We also listen to our enthusiastic community! You’ll find passionate debate in our comment sections, which we tap into when controversial submissions arise.

Finally, we’re working on a variety of ways to make the product more intelligent. This includes layering in satellite, FAA, and drone data to deconflict reports quicker and provide additional context for our community.

Thanks for your support!

This reminds me of all those horror stories about UFOs I have heard and watched as a kid. :D such nostalgia.

Interesting :D

Carlos Olivieri

We loved those stories too,@busmark_w_nika! We're huge fans of NOVA on PBS, who featured us in January 😉

Nika

Congratulations! Didn't know you had a shutout!

Hyuntak Lee

Interesting app! What was more interesting is this - I've visited your site and saw that you have the largest repository of sighting data. Do you somehow process or analyze the data to see if there's any significant signal or sign?

Carlos Olivieri

Hi,@hyuntak_lee! Yes, we do! When we receive a rash of concurrent reports in the same location, also known as “flaps”, we run a real-time analysis and attempt to triangulate the object. We do so by comparing metadata captured from the various reports received and viewpoints of our users. We also look back at historical sightings to identify trends based on craft shape, color, flight pattern, and more.

Hyuntak Lee

@closoliv Wow it must be true wonder every time you run the analysis. I want to know more about the analysis but you can keep it secret :)
Haven't NASA secretly contacted you to cooperate yet?
