GoodDog is a scam…buyer and breeder beware. There are MANY negative reviews for a reason.
Scam 1. “Buyer protection”. GoodDog does not actually “protect” the buyers. They collect a fee to “protect you” when in fact what they do is “ask” the breeder if they are willing to do anything about a dispute. If the breeder says no, GoodDog tells you too bad, the breeders’ policies are enforced, and you are out of luck.
Scam 2. Payments. GoodDog demands that all payments are processed through their website. They bury the option to use an ACH payment, which has no fee, and makes it very hard for the buyer to find and use that option. They instead make the default payment include the “buyer protection” and charge you for this “service”.
Scam 3. GoodDog stands behind their breeders. GoodDog absolutely does not stand behind the breeders. They allow anyone with a grudge to make a complaint. They immediately shut down the breeder’s profiles while they “investigate”. Even if you prove the complaints are not valid or that GoodDog did not show a policy violation or other made-up complaint, they won’t stand behind the breeder.
When GoodDog initially set out, I was one of the early breeders. Not only did I actively support this company, but I also personally referred MANY breeders and steered many homes to this site. In other words, I helped build this company up.
In my circumstance, whoever was emailing lied. I proved they lied and that I complied with EVERY policy and procedure, as well as their directions. They were supplied with every single piece of information they asked for and then some. I voluntarily submitted additional information, witness statements, photos etc. In the end, despite the transparency, they refused to reinstate the account even though there was not one policy I did not comply with.
I have been told by MANY high-quality breeders that they have had similar interactions. GoodDog is all about increasing their numbers to give the “illusion” they are a legitimate, quality site to shop from when in reality there are many mills on their site that are allowed to continue while legitimate high-quality breeders are not supported. It is truly despicable that people are allowed to lie about each other and GoodDog refuses to do the right thing.

I have been with Good Dog for quite some time, and my experience has taken a disappointing turn. Initially, I was pleased with the platform, but issues began to arise when they started collecting fees on puppy sales without any prior notification. I only found out about these charges when a buyer informed me they were charged both a deposit fee and an additional fee on the final payment. This lack of transparency is unacceptable.
Furthermore, I attempted to apply for my Frenchies, only to be rejected due to a "no Merle" policy. It’s baffling to think that dogs are being discriminated against based on their color. Since when do we judge dogs in this way? After my initial denial, I was informed that I needed to wait six months and not have any Merles in my program before reapplying. I complied, rehomed my Merles, and have since had none in my program. Yet, I was denied again for the same reason!
This policy feels arbitrary and unfair. Good Dog's approach to dog breeds and colors is not only confusing but also quite frustrating. I would advise anyone considering their services to think twice. Save yourself the hassle and find a more transparent and fair platform for your dogs. Good Dog is a joke—remove your dogs from their program and look elsewhere.

Gooddog’s new horrendous policy
Gooddog has now implemented a new policy. This is the new policy in a nutshell: An applicant can submit an application but in order to start a discussion between applicant and Breeder the applicant will need to pay the deposit before hand (if the breeder does deposits). They have to pay money before they can even talk to the breeder!!! They will also be taking out the remainder payment a week before the puppies are to go home.
I was a gooddog breeder. After today I am no longer associated with GoodDog and had them delete my account. After several emails back-and-forth with gooddog letting them know that this goes against my own policy for my program they still don’t care how any of us feel. In the email received on Tuesday September 13, 2022 from the CEO of gooddog…
“Good Dog will take care of collecting payments and hold them in escrow for you to accept when you're ready.”
Nobody should be handing over money to a company to hold in escrow until the breeder decides whether he/she will Fully approve the applicant. This is a very unethical thing to do.

If you are looking for a Shih Tzu Melanie Moyer's Shih Tzu are fabulous! I could not have picked a better breeder. At 8 weeks my puppy is very welled trained and super healthy. I was nervous about this site at first. I read some weird reviews. I can assure you this site is really good and the breeder I chose is A++++

My husband got a standard poodle puppy from Ashton’s Standards after flying to pick him up. He specifically asked about a tooth issue as we wanted to go through a local breeder who crate trains and works with the beautiful puppies daily but declined after hearing from the honest breeder he has misaligned teeth. We were sent a health check up saying puppy was in perfect health including the oral cavity. That is the reason we decided to go through with the sale as this puppy isn’t crate trained and clearly has never been worked with. He has dry flaky skin and is missing fur in spots. As soon as my husband came home with our new puppy I opened his mouth and to my dismay he also has the tooth issue! We paid more and my husband flew and paid for the flight as well as the pet fee. Good dog was notified and instead of working with us to rectify the situation they decided to protect this horrible deceitful breeder. They wanted my husband to fly back with the puppy to give him back. He’s our puppy now and we aren’t willing to do that. I’d rather find him a home and let someone else wait and see how it goes with the teeth or pay to fix them ourselves. We love him and will definitely not be able to give him up. I just feel mad that we were duped and it makes me wonder what else may be wrong with this poor little puppy.

I had a wonderful experience using Good Dog. We were very concerned about getting a dog from a reputable breeder & we appreciated Good Dog’s vetting process for breeders. We were able to get a beautiful male maltese puppy from Navabo Diamond through Good Dog. We felt comfortable working with an out of state breeder that we had not met because Good Dog guarantees the transactions & payments. the breeder flew in with our puppy today & we are absolutely in love with him. We had a terrific experience all the way around!

I connected with a woman, looking to find a new home for her 14 mos old Shih Tzu. We had a mutual connection and the experience was wonderful! Thank you to the site for making my adoption of little Prince possible! He is a delight and I look forward to getting him settled in over the next few weeks!

I found Summer Berlinger , a breeder of Scottish Terriers in Las Vegas on Good Dog. She required half down, & the remaining half at 4 weeks old.2 days after I made the 2nd payment, she called to say the puppy had died after getting dewormer the day before. My vet says he has never heard of such a thing happening. I asked to be let out of her crazy confusing contract, and she refused, saying I had to go through another litter first. She never called when that litter was born, I called her a week later (was told no female was produced), and I had to go through 5 litters before a refund! NOT in the contract! I smell a big fish now, tried to get Good Dog to at the very least, remove her from their website, but they were very tepid in their response. I even went to my police to see if they could work with Vegas police, but because their was a contract involved, was told it wasn't fraud. I can't be the only person she has scammed. I did adopt a puppy finally through another breeder NOT on Good Dog, she told me she never posts on Good Dog, too sketchy.
Buyers beware: 10K+ people a year get scammed out of their money and never get the puppy they thought they would get. This breeder needs to be removed, she has no problem keeping my hard earned (Social Security) money, evil.
