Hi Everyone, I'm one of the cofounders of Truebill. We've been working hard for the last few months to make Truebill the best platform to find, track and manage your subscriptions - give it a try and we'd love to hear your feedback. Thanks!
Bryna Corcoran
@yahyamokh You should partner up with NerdWallet!! I could see this being a super useful tool within their ecosystem.
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@brynatweets We actually spoke to them a few months ago when we had just started building. May be time to reconnect :-)

@yahyamokh How do I link PayPal if I don't do it during the initial onboarding? I've been looking for a product like this for a long time now. I currently have my assistant log into my accounts every few months and manually find recurring subscriptions for me to review
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@itsthisjustin Hi Justin. In the top menu click "Add Linked Account" then click "view more" at the bottom of the modal. Then type Paypal into the search box and it will come up. We're working on making this more streamlined. Hopefully your assistant will appreciate Truebill then :-)

@yahyamokh this service seems cool, but i'm a little worried that it's free.. how will you charge / make money (eventually)? and how are you using the data that you collect?
Randall Bennett
I'm just a little skeptical of a service like this.... given you guys have funding and are on the "normal startup" path, how do you make money? Do you sell my data? What's going on here?
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@randallb Hi Randall. The idea is that in the future we'll be able to recommend services to you - like "hey you might enjoy Spotify". Spotify would then pay us a referral fee if you decide to sign up.
Brad Flora
@yahyamokh @randallb "If you like Netflix, you'll love Amazon Prime Video" etc etc.
Alex Mitchell
@bradflora @yahyamokh @randallb "If you hate Comcast/Xfinity, you might slightly hate Fios less :)" (personal experience)
Michael Wills
@yahyamokh @randallb I was wondering this same thing and this does help clear it up. This is Mint's model as well so it makes sense. I don't know what other users would think about this but assuming * you're saving money for me * and this makes me happy :) * you are tracking subscription categories like mobile phone, internet service, etc. * I cancel a service _and switch to a new similar service_ I'd be open to you asking me why I switched, especially if it's a quick poll via email with optional detailed response. And if * enough users are answering why they switched * you have those analytics * you see an unusual amount of switching with similar reasons for switching or a surge in users switching to/from similar services * _I_ use a service that is being "abandoned" :) * I would be interested to know those trends and where they are going Or perhaps this is already in the pipeline… :) The signup needs to accept `.name` domains for email though. :( [edit]Sorry I don't see a way to contact your tech crew via the site since I can't sign up. So it looks like maybe just the regex for the email address TLD needs to be a bit more relaxed. :)

@my_chiguai @randallb Right, also one other thing we can do, a lot of times when you cancel a subscription the company will make a special offer - i.e. "we'll give you 3 months free if you stay". We can roll out this feature and charge subscription companies to access it (but you'll still be able to cancel with just a click).

A tool for anyone. If you've got subscriptions with recurring payments, Truebill will help you manage and cancel them. I don't see a reason why people won't love this! Sign up and save money.
Andrew Becker
@hnshah Good call this one is solid! Every bank should offer text messages when they see a new subscription.
Jordan Metzner
been using TrueBill for a few months now and am loving it. I get a great digest of all my bills for both work and personal spending
Alex J Mathews
In addition to a great founding team, it's a super intuitive, easy to use product. TrueBill immediately found a monthly DropBox subscription I had hooked up to a CC I was not using and had set to auto pay the bill -- so that's $120/yr in savings within 20 minutes of signing up -- thanks guys!! Most people I've talked to always do this manually (it's something Mint et al never cracked) and it's a huge pain. Keep up the good work!
Ray Wu
@amathewz I found that Amazon Audible to be the same, ~$120.
Adeel Raza
Been using Truebill for a couple of weeks. Super useful! Found a few subscriptions I wasn't aware of and was able to cancel those easily. Great work @idris and @yahyamokh!
Mattan Griffel
Love the team behind this.
Jake Mor
@yahyamokh how are my bank credentials being stored on your servers? Why aren't you using oauth2? Something doesn't feel right about this...
Idris Mokhtarzada
@jakemor I'm glad you asked! We never store your bank credentials. We integrate with Plaid's API to get the transactions from your bank. You can read about Plaid's security here: https://plaid.com/security Also, we have a read-only API into your accounts, so we can't transfer money out, etc.
Brian Jordan
@idris @jakemor hmm, I'd feel a lot more comfortable inputting my information if it was at least an iframe from Plaid, the bank/paypal, oauth, etc. When it comes down to it, the form is sending data to truebill.com. If it weren't for this being endorsed by a few folks on here I would be too wary to try it out. That said, looks awesome and super useful.
Ouriel Ohayon
Very well done. this is exactly what i wanted from Trim: a rich user interface. not just text via sms. i have to admit i had in mind to build something like that :)
Ben Tossell
Some familiar feedback with Trim was the fact that subscription people ARE happy paying for kept popping up. @idris is this something that can be filtered on Truebill?
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@bentossell @idris Hi Ben, while we'll report on all subscriptions we've built specific functionality around monitoring to catch increases, double bills, or being billed for things you thought you'd cancel. Ultimately we want to manage the full lifecycle of the subscription for you - including pausing or adjusting your plan, not just canceling. Thanks!
Jake Wetton
Love it, except i can only use it with PayPal... any idea on when you might introduce more UK Banks? i might just swap to Barclays!
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@graphicartwork Believe me, we wish we could support more UK institutions. It's definitely in the works!
Ben Thompson
I've never actually seen in one spot how many recurring things I pay for—SaaS products, subscriptions. Eye opening experience for both personal and business accounts. Killer product @yahyamokh and @idris can't wait to see where you guys take it
Alex Mitchell
Great to see this on PH! Really valuable service that has already saved me money (iTunes bill for extra storage that I didn't need). Killer team, excited to see how @idris and @yahyamokh continue to develop this product.
Travis Kimmel
Just saved me $85/month from a sub I couldn't figure out how to cancel. Local utility provider so I'm not even sure how you guys pulled if off, but this is fantastic.!
Andrew Song
Signed up, easy integration to my online accounts. Found one subscription I wasn't aware that was still running and got it cancelled immediately. :)
Samir Doshi
@asong408 Had the same situation with multiple subscriptions over time but had to find them via my gmail which has 20k unread messages ... haha --- truebill would be a life saver
ian ownbey
This was cool but didn't work
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@iano Hi Ian, we did have a little hickup from getting a ton of Product Hunt signups - this should be fixed now! Sorry for the headache!
Idris Mokhtarzada
@officebeats It can take some time to get all of the transactions from your bank, so it may just be that. You'll get an email when we're done fetching everything and Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify should show up.
Yahya Mokhtarzada
Also, I should mention we're hiring engineers. If you're a Node.js programmer give me a shout!
Idris Mokhtarzada
Or if you love React, or if you're just an awesome engineer!
Nichlas W. Andersen
Ohhh, what a great find! I really need this!
Mandy Miranda
Such a time relevant and helpful tool full of value. My only feedback so far is duplicate data based on adding a credit card that is also affiliated with a bank account, so now it looks like I have multiple accounts with all of my subscriptions. Other than that, super intuitive and very useful. Thanks for your work on this!
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@mandyburgan Hi Mandy - thanks for pointing this out. We have de-duplication functionality but we definitely need to get to this use-case.
Tim Yu
There's been a number of subscription management services popping up recently - @yahyamokh, whats your vision for Truebill a few years from now, and whats your secret sauce? Awesome product btw, excited to see the accuracy improve over time :)
Yahya Mokhtarzada
@tim061693 Hi Tim, thanks for the feedback! We think finding and canceling subscriptions is a great way to build a product that people love and that helps save money, but there's definitely more to our vision than that. Essentially, subscriptions are becoming a bigger and bigger part of our everyday life - and the average person is shifting more of their spending to subscriptions. Even large companies are now shifting entirely to a subscription model - i.e. Microsoft Office is now available only as a subscription. This is great for consumers, it's convenient and can also be cheaper, but it also becomes a problem trying to keep track of and manage 15 different subscriptions. So we see that as our mission, to manage the full lifecycle of subscriptions - from discovery to enrollment to personalization to management to cancellation. We think subscriptions can be a great tool to simplify your life - if you have a simple solution to manage them.
Samir Doshi
@yahyamokh @tim061693 Agreed - with the world of SaaS growing like crazy - I could see this as a great enterprise grade tool as well.
