I've been using this app for months and recommend it for anyone looking for a simple way to create accountability and focus. Here's my small example:
I didn't drink enough water during the day, and wanted to improve the habit. I tried the app Water Logged, but I fell off the bandwagon when it got too repetitive and because I had to pull out my phone and open the app every time I drank a glass of water. After that, I set a reminder on my phone to go off every few hours. That didn't work because sometimes my reminder would go off when I wasn't able to take action, so I'd snooze it constantly and ultimately started ignoring it completely. Then I found Harold. Harold texts me at the end of each day asking if I drank enough water and I respond with a yes or no. There's something about the *interaction*, where I reflect on my progress and reply to the question, that is more effective than a *reminder*.
The other reason this app works for me is because the interaction comes in a format that I already engage with regularly (text message), so I don't have to create one habit (i.e. remember to open an app) in order to track another.
