Hi all! Would love it if you could take Jaunt for a spin and LMK what you think. This is a fresh take on document sharing for 2024, from the founders of SlideShare. If you find bugs or have cool ideas for features I would love to hear them. If you're launching today, please tag your slides with #producthunt so others can find them easily. Also: here's our slides from the producthunt images! https://jaunt.com/j/jaunt-a-new-... All decks from producthunt launches that get uploaded will be archived here. https://jaunt.com/tag/producthunt

Congrats on the launch, @jboutelle @rashmi @amitranjan. I'm curious, what's the main motivation for someone to share PDFs and docs on Jaunt? Do you see more personal use cases, like sharing resumes or ebooks, or is it more for professional content like slides and reports? Would love to hear a real-world use case that inspired this!
Jonathan Boutelle
@rashmi @amitranjan @ashitvora People share documents because they want to get their ideas out into the world. The super typical example is someone gives a talk at a conference, and then shares the slides so a)people can read them later, and b)people who didn't go to the conference can read the slides.
Rashmi Sinha
@jboutelle @rashmi @amitranjan @ashitvora If you look at Twitter or any other social media, people are always sharing screenshots of documents and presentations - it could be talk slides, pitch deck or scientific documents. So the sharing is occurring anyway, but its via screenshots on different apps. Jaunt hopes to create a space for that sharing to occur in one place so there can be an exchange of ideas.

Even though it's still early in development, Jaunt offers a promising new platform to share and socialize around documents, decks, and PDFs that's mobile-optimized in a way that platforms like arxiv and Scribd are not.

@chrismessina Thanks Chris!

I missed the influencer train (more than once, i gather) but perhaps this is my opportunity to be a document influencer.. unless I got this completely wrong!
Jonathan Boutelle
@ioannis_tsiokos Yes. Professional "thought leader" types are big into sharing slides especially. If you already have the documents it's a every easy way to get more leverage out of them!

Second coming of SlideShare! Congrats team!
Rashmi Sinha
@ross_mayfield1 Thanks. Must add that the Second Coming makes it sound like a horror movie :-)
Jonathan Boutelle
@ross_mayfield1 Thanks Ross!

Congratulations to the Jaunt team on the launch! This is much needed and closes a gap that professionals have in sharing their content visually and publicly in a simple, accessible way. It’s exciting to see this new venture from the SlideShare team, as someone who had the privilege to lead SlideShare’s design and SEO growth from 2008-2018, and later during its acquisition by Scribd in 2020. I’m eager to see how Jaunt will innovate in this space. Best wishes for this exciting new chapter!
Rashmi Sinha
@simplyarun Thanks @simplyarun for the early design help. You helped visualize the platform and we are so thankful for you.
Jonathan Boutelle
@simplyarun Hey Arun! Thanks for the kind words. You're the best!

Congrats! Mobile-first is definitely a great differentiator, but aside from that, what are the significant competitive advantages compared to platforms like Arxiv and Scribd?

Love the Logo, looks insane & the UI is really appealing - Is this similar to a WeTransfer type platform?
Jonathan Boutelle
@cranqnow Thanks! Rashmi Sinha designed the logo. It's really more similar to like youtube or something. It's for publicaly sharing documents, not for file transfer.
Rashmi Sinha
@cranqnow Thanks for the kind words. I am totally in love with the logo too. I searched for months trying to think of an animal going on a jaunt as our logo, and came across stories of how penguins go on long journeys. And they have the distinct waddle.
