Hey fellow Product Hunters! 👋 Firstly, thanks @kensavage for hunting our plugin. My name is Bhanu Ahluwalia - I'm one of the founders of the Rank Math SEO 📈 plugin for WordPress. We've been building Rank Math for almost 4 years now and it originally launched as a private beta just a few months ago. @evivz I've been a longtime user of Yoast, but I just let it run passively in the background. I'm wondering -- what are the recent blunders? I'd be happy to try Rank Math. Just want to know where Yoast is lacking.

Hi Ajay (@parttimesnob ), Thanks for your interest in Rank Math - I really urge you to check it out. It firstly isn’t unheard of for other top SEO plugins to have some serious performance issues but there are a ton of things on top of that. One of the main ones being the types of markup that Rank Math supports but Yoast simply doesn’t. Yoast’s only implementation of proper schema markup has been for a ‘how-to’ block which is often referred to as an ‘FAQ’ element. On the other hand, Rank Math has everything from reviews, recipes, articles, books, courses, events, music and more. Also, the on-page tests we do actually make sense compared to what other plugins run. I could go on for quite a while but that would make this answer longer than it already is 😅 The reason this matter is because the overall theme with SEO last & this year, specific to Google, was probably around how much emphasis Google has put towards structured data and schema. Rank Math has all the standard features and packs some new features as mentioned above. Which makes it powerful and the support is very good. On top of all of this its free and the product owner confirmed that the current features will remain free for life. No brainer really. Pros:

Lightweight, unique features (Schema, AMP, 404+Redirection monitor, Role manager, Deep Google search console integration)

Cons:

Limited documentation, SEO Analysis is a little over engineered.

More features for free, without the distractions and annoyances of some of the other choices. Mostly though, the features are great, the UI is great, and it's just a refreshing change from others I've used in the past.

Pros:

Clear and understandable onboarding and setup process

Cons:

I think Rank Math is the better alternative

I ran a simple online SEO checker and it came back with a warning. The tools Rank Math SEO uses are all going to get you ranked down in Google for attempting to game. Most of these reviews and comments sound so fake too...

Cons:

This WILL backfire!

@bhanuahluwalia Your plugin looks amazing. However as I am not an authority on website development and SEO I am a little nervous about making the change to you from Yoast. I see you have the option to import across settings from Yoast, but I wondered if it was possible to use both plugins at the same time specifically to be able to use Schema and social preview urls? The reason I ask is that I attend an ongoing blogging workshop for things like site optimisation and I think it is highly unlikely that the person that leads that programme will move from Y to RM in the short term - I will be telling them about you however. Thanks.

@krishnade Hi Krishna, we'd really appreciate it if you do share Rank Math with them. Unfortunately it would be difficult for us to recommend to use two plugins for the same purpose at the same time as it could produce unexpected results. I hope you decide to make the jump to Rank Math soon! :)

@krishnade Krishna Also, TBH, those social previews are just the cosmetic touches and helps understand how a post would look on the social media sites. The real difference lies within. I would request you to please run through this page: https://rankmath.com/yoast-alter... It will give you a better idea and clarity on why one should be choosing the Rank Math plugin.

@bhanuahluwalia Thanks - I have mentioned it to them and they tell me it is on their list of things to test and "Still a little too new to recommend. Letting them work the rest of the bugs out right now." So it does not look like they will be recommending it in their classes or in their articles or to their clients any time soon. And yes I have looked at the comparison before I commented here - but I am sure you can appreciate that for some of us who are not technical in terms of coding and correcting things that we need the SEO experts in our networks to be able to embrace what many will see as a big change sothat we can follow their lead in the workshops that they teach! Let's hope some of the big influencers in search and key SEO industry websites pick up your launch and put your plugin to the test which then will help influence other SEO experts! If you are going to try Rank Math is going to be hard that you can find something bad! As for now it all look good! The review that made me think that maybe it was worth it to try it was this one: https://marcodiversi.com/blog/ra... if you are wondering if it's better yoast or rank math you can find more info there and maybe you will able to take a decision and switch to it!
